Once in a while....

...real life gets in the way of trout fishing. I'm not able to get out at all this weekend. Next weekend, I may venture a little further afield than my usual haunts to check out a beautiful little brook trout stream that holds plenty of beautiful little brook trout, and a few beautiful big brook trout too, as well an occasional fat brown, and the odd rainbow that escapes from a town millpond. What's the name of that stream again? Rats, I always seem to forget. It's up just past, oh what's the name of that road? You know. I'll see you there.

Let me guess!
You are heading north west of the city - somewhere in the direction of a long spine of escarpment that heads all the way from the big lake to the slightly smaller lake.
It looks like you had quite a wet trip to PA.
Finally we have warm weather here eh?

That could be, Mr. Canyon....although alternatively, I may help out my father-in-law by doing half a day of weeding in his cottage garden north-east of the city.....then slip away to a barely known little stream that holds bigger browns than you'd expect along with a healthy population of brookies.

i've only rarely ever fished north east of the city in the so-called eastern tributaries although i have wandered through them a couple of times while hiking.
it's amazing but there really is a lot of water so close to us eh?

I likely never would have found the stream I fish NE of the city if I hadn't been given a generous tip from someone who knows I like little streams. It's really deceptive. When you stop and look at it, it is small and clear and really doesn't look like it's up to much, but if you catch it during a good hatch, it comes alive and can be very generous indeed.

i love little streams too, although heading west to the big water west of us on occasion can be fun as well.
but yes - consistently fishing the smaller streams is consistently more rewarding.
good luck on that trip ...
look forward to the report.

Hey Old Smuggler. We're talking about a little stream that flows into a lake and river system that holds muskie and walleye and bass. It's a very delicate little trout stream and it can't handle much pressure, so I prefer not to name it.

we do live within a stone's throw of canada's largest city. you can imagine the pressure.

Ok, sometimes is better to shut and don´t mention a fragile spot. I have done the same here in my province for a very very delicate stream.

Regards.

P.S.: maybe we can see pictures of the trouts, if is possible.
